Open Day at Lycée Athénée de Luxembourg

For any parents interested in exploring the various Secondary educational options available in Luxembourg, please make a note of the upcoming ‘Open Day’ at the Lycée Athénée de Luxembourg on Saturday 24th October from 10am – 12noon.

It is an ‘Open Day’ to find out more about the International Baccalaureate® (IB) Diploma Programme offered at the Athénée. You can visit the school, its facilities, talk to the teachers involved and meet IB students from all classes. This IB Diploma programme enables students with an excellent command of English to follow academically challenging and balanced secondary studies in English focusing on languages and sciences. It prepares them thoroughly for further studies at university and life beyond.

To this end, the Athénée has created a 4-year international course of study which encompasses two different levels:

  • Following the two preparation years (10th and 11th grades) students start the actual IB Diploma Programme (12th and 13th grades).
  • Although students may join the programme in grades 10, 11 or 12, students from the regular Luxembourgish system are advised to join the programme in grade 10.
  • The Athénée acquired the status of IB World School in February 2010: this means that they were officially authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme – from September 2010 onwards.
